Elika Takimoto points to voter saturation: "the task is to remove hatred from the electoral process"

247 - Professor and newly elected state representative Elika Takimoto (PT-RJ) participated in the program "Giro das Onze" on TV 247, where she spoke about her perception during the campaign in Rio de Janeiro and pointed out that there is a climate of saturation among voters, given the hateful campaign of the far right. "Nobody wants to talk. Everyone is tired. Not only on the right, but also on the left. The task is to try to remove this hatred. What's lacking is teaching skills. We have the content, but we lack teaching methods. Nobody learns from a teacher yelling or calling students stupid. To be heard, you have to show respect for the person who also wants to be heard," she emphasized.

Elika also spoke about the recent cuts made by the federal government to education funding. "Bolsonaro said in 2018 that he would destroy everything the PT had built. And, in fact, he did," she emphasized.

Elika, a Physics professor at the Federal Center for Technological Education (CEFET), with a master's degree in History, a doctorate in Philosophy, and a writer, emphasizes that "PT [Workers' Party] made a revolution in education."

“We have never seen so much inclusion of people from diverse backgrounds, especially the poorest, in universities. Universities being created. The number of university students has tripled. Now, for the first time in history, the number of students enrolled in federal universities is falling. This signifies a lack of future. Of a qualified workforce. It is the sovereignty of the country being attacked,” he denounced.
