"The celebrations lasted 12 hours and the big bourgeoisie is already giving instructions to Lula," says Breno Altman.

The journalist criticized the traditional media which, in his opinion, instead of having the modesty to begin showing its true colors, is already dictating what Lula should or should not do.

247 - In an interview with TV 247 this Monday (31), after the victory of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the polls, journalist Breno Altman criticized the traditional and hegemonic press which, already “spreads its wings” dictating what Lula should or should not do in his government. Altman highlights the editorial of the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper.

“Anyone who opens Monday’s newspapers, especially the Folha editorial – the country’s big bourgeoisie – is already giving Lula instructions. It’s an impressive arrogance. He has just been elected president of the Republic in a very tough fight where almost 60 million Brazilians restored what a coup d’état took from the PT in 2016 with the support of these monopolistic media outlets, and they, instead of at least having the modesty to start showing their true colors, are already dictating what Lula should or shouldn’t do. This is the prelude to what will happen during his [Lula’s] government,” he emphasized.

According to the journalist, the bourgeois media that supported the coup and wanted to defeat Bolsonaro, and therefore supported Lula, will shift its stance in opposition to Lula. “There is an irreconcilable contradiction. What Lula intends to do – those objectives that enshrine the historical commitment of Lula and the PT, which is to improve the lives of the people – means increasing wages, increasing rights, reducing the tax burden on the poorest and increasing it on the richest. These interests confront the fundamental interests of capitalist accumulation in Brazil,” he concluded.
