247 - Journalist and writer Carolina Grohmann has dedicated the last four years of her research to listening to people who gave her their impressions of the rise of Bolsonaro in 2018.

With over forty interviews conducted, Grohmann wrote the book "Bolsonaro's Brazil: Historical Testimonies of a Country in Narrative Warfare," published in August by Mireveja. She was the interviewee this week on the program Literature & Critical Thought, presented by journalist Cesar Calejon on TV 247.

Based on these testimonies, the author addresses important facts about the nation's current sociopolitical period, such as education, culture, the arms race in the country, racial issues, and much more.

In addition, the writer also developed a website (www.obrasildebolsonaro.com.brso that people can contribute their own stories, considering how they experienced the years of Bolsonaro's rule. For her, "it's important to hear all the stories, including those that weren't published in the book."

“The work is inspired by the genre known as the novel of voices, and the biggest challenge, when looking at Brazil under the Bolsonaro (government), is knowing how we move beyond narratives and actually engage in the struggle,” reflects Grohmann.

During the conversation, the writer stated that we are living through a decisive moment and that adopting a firm stance is extremely necessary in this context.

“Listening to people and writing this book has made me more prepared to understand my side in this war. Brazil is living under a fascist government, and it is necessary to choose a side in this war,” concludes the author.
