Adriana Accorsi: "Amnesty, if approved, is unconstitutional"

247 - Federal deputy Adriana Arccosi (PT-GO), president of the PT-GO party, stated in an interview with TV 247 that the Brazilian population wants justice and punishment, not impunity, for those who attacked democracy.

According to her, Brazil is going through a historic moment, but sectors aligned with US policies are trying to subvert national legislation to protect allies of President Donald Trump. The Supreme Federal Court's (STF) judgment on the coup plot—which resulted in the conviction of former President Jair Bolsonaro to 27 years in prison for leading a criminal organization aimed at overthrowing the government elected in 2022—has been challenged by potential presidential candidates for 2026.

"They are using the threat of amnesty as a form of pressure, but the branches of government are autonomous. I don't believe it will be approved, and if it is, it's unconstitutional," he criticized, highlighting the seriousness of the coup attempts of January 8, 2023.

In the interview, Accorsi emphasized that the population expects not "shielding" from the National Congress, but rather the work of parliamentarians to advance the agendas that truly matter to the country, such as income tax exemption for those earning up to 5 reais per month and the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) on Public Security.

"President Lula's concern is to guarantee public safety, and we will do that," he emphasized.
