247 - An interview with the hacker Uirá Porã, an activist of the Movement @FeliciLabno, SCHEDULE good night 247The discussion touched upon recent developments in artificial intelligence, focusing particularly on the impact of DeepSeek, a new AI that has been gaining prominence in the global market. Uirá, with extensive experience in the field of technology and the hacker movement, shared his perspectives on digital transformation and the importance of open source, considering it a key factor for the future of artificial intelligence.

In the context of DeepSeek, Uirá explained that the current artificial intelligence revolution involves a significant paradigm shift. "Imagine that artificial intelligence is a cake recipe. They managed to make a chocolate cake, but with the most expensive chocolate in the world, in the most expensive oven in the world," he commented, referring to the initial AI development process, which required enormous resources. He highlighted, however, that this technology, previously considered inaccessible, is now becoming more viable for other developers. "But with regular flour, regular chocolate, and in a regular oven," he explained, emphasizing the possibility of making AI more accessible, with lower costs.

Uirá's main criticism of the current dynamics of big tech companies and OpenAI, for example, is the closed and secretive model these companies maintain regarding their products. "The recipe is an open recipe," he stated, arguing that technological innovation can only thrive when the codes and models are accessible to everyone. He pointed out that the name OpenAI, despite carrying "open" in its branding, was created by large investors and technologists who, in practice, maintain a closed system, contrary to what the open-source philosophy promotes.

Uirá drew an analogy between the development of artificial intelligence models and the economic bubbles that arise around expensive technologies. According to him, when a company like OpenAI tests and develops new models, it ends up creating a bubble of expensive and inaccessible innovations, which generates a false perception that these technologies can only be reproduced with high investments in infrastructure. "DeepSeek, being open source, opens the possibility that it is not only cheap, but also reproducible," said Uirá, pointing out how access to open source code can break this bubble and allow more countries, like Brazil, to invest in artificial intelligence more equitably.

Speaking about Brazil, Uirá was emphatic in pointing out the lack of adequate infrastructure to compete with the tech giants. "Brazil should be desperately looking for NVIDIA graphics cards to install its infrastructure and start training its models," he suggested, emphasizing the urgency for the country to invest in a local artificial intelligence ecosystem. He also mentioned China, which has been heavily investing in technology and innovation for years, and noted that the Asian country's leadership is no accident. "China has been investing in this market for a long time, and this CEO figure is not accidental," Uirá stated, suggesting that the country's policy is a model to be followed by other nations, including Brazil.

Uirá concluded the interview with a critique of the use of AI by large corporations, warning that big companies are more focused on generating profit than on promoting genuine social transformation. For him, artificial intelligence has the power to redistribute wealth and opportunities, but only if it is built in an open and accessible way. "AI has the power to distribute wealth and opportunity, but for that to happen, it needs to be built in an open, accessible, and collaborative way," he concluded, making clear his commitment to free software and the advancement of digital sovereignty.

The interview brought to light urgent questions about the future of artificial intelligence and the fundamental role of open source in the democratization of technology. Uirá Porã, with his critical and innovative vision, positions himself as one of the most important voices in the fight for digital sovereignty and the ethical use of artificial intelligence, especially in a global scenario dominated by large technology corporations.
