247 - The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is already part of the routine of 41,9% of Brazilian companies with 100 or more employees, an increase of 25% since 2022. The data comes from the Semiannual Innovation Survey (Pintec Semestral), released this Wednesday (24) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The survey also assessed the adoption of advanced digital technologies, teleworking practices and cybersecurity measures in the corporate environment.

In small businesses, the trend is also towards digital acceleration. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2024 survey, conducted in 51 countries with support from Sebrae in Brazil, Brazilian entrepreneurs stand out in the use of digital tools. For 89% of them, social media is indispensable for business, and 71% value data analytics solutions. The study also indicates that Brazil is among the countries where entrepreneurs most intend to invest in digital technologies.

According to GEM, 80% of early-stage entrepreneurs plan to adopt more digital resources in the next six months. Among them, 60% cite artificial intelligence as a priority, while 69% highlight cloud computing as a strategic tool.

According to the president of Sebrae, Décio Lima, digital transformation is no longer an option but a condition for competitiveness. “Innovation is a concept that is irreversible, and small businesses know this and are integrated into this world. It's possible to access products anywhere in the world. And small businesses know they need to enter this globalized world. Digitalization is fundamental to expanding relationships and broadening opportunities. Sebrae's role is to support these businesses so that the lack of access to digital means is not a barrier. Sebrae brings technology and innovation to every corner, generating inclusion and jobs,” he stated.

Technological advancement in large companies

The Pintec Semiannual survey showed that 89,1% of the companies surveyed used at least one advanced digital technology in 2024. Among the most common are big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, the internet of things, additive manufacturing, and robotics.

Artificial intelligence has gained ground in different areas: Administration (87,9%), Marketing (75,2%), and Development of product, process, and service projects (73,1%). For companies, the main benefits are increased efficiency (90,3%) and greater flexibility in administrative, production, and organizational processes (89,5%).

Conducted in partnership with the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the Semiannual Pintec survey is part of the IBGE's Experimental Investigations. The survey has national coverage and is carried out semiannually, serving as a barometer of digital transformation in the country.
