Entrepreneurship boosts extra income and helps Brazilians overcome the crisis.
Sebrae experts provide guidance on skills, resources, and entrepreneurial profile to transform ideas into businesses and ensure financial stability.
247 - In a challenging economic landscape, entrepreneurship emerges as an alternative for those seeking to supplement their income, pay off debts, or invest in new projects. According to experts from Sebrae Nacional (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service), the decision to start a self-employed activity requires careful analysis of factors such as personal skills, available resources, and entrepreneurial profile.
“The search for extra income involves evaluating at least three important aspects when deciding on the activity to choose: skills, resources, and behavior,” explains Eduardo Curado, Solutions Manager at Sebrae Nacional. According to him, people with experience or training in a particular area tend to explore activities in which they feel more secure, such as manicure services, photography, private tutoring, dog training, and furniture assembly.
In addition to skills, it is essential to assess the resources available to start the activity. Drivers and delivery people for apps, Airbnb hosts, and sewing professionals, for example, use assets they already own to transform the initiative into a source of income. Those who are more willing to take risks and lead teams can excel in commerce, product resale, and event organization, as pointed out by Sebrae specialist Lúcio Pires.
Brazil ranks among the ten most entrepreneurial countries in the world, with 30% of the adult population involved in the sector, according to the 2023 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report. The study, conducted with support from Sebrae and the National Association for Studies in Entrepreneurship and Management of Small Businesses (Anegepe), revealed that approximately 90 million Brazilians are already entrepreneurs or plan to start a business in the next three years.
To assist those who wish to transform ideas into concrete opportunities, Sebrae offers free training through the online course "Extra Income." The platform allows for a diagnosis of the entrepreneur's profile and provides a set of personalized recommendations, as well as enabling direct contact with specialists for complementary guidance.
Sebrae also offers an online tool with over 100 viable business suggestions, including revenue projections, growth trends, and initial investment estimates. "Most of the ideas require less than 500 reais to start, which facilitates access to entrepreneurship even for those with limited resources," emphasizes Eduardo Curado.
