Wagner Pinheiro to 247: "Aécio will be prosecuted"

The president of the Brazilian postal service, Wagner Pinheiro, told 247 that he intends to sue Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) and the PSDB party for the attacks they have been making on the institution's image. "I am at the head of a company with 350 years of history and whose main asset is its brand, which has credibility with all Brazilians," says Pinheiro. "We have given all the explanations, but they continue to make frivolous and criminal attacks on the company to try to create an electoral fabrication." According to Pinheiro, this is even part of a project to privatize the postal service, "something they tried to do when Pimenta da Veiga was Minister of Communications."

247 - The president of the Brazilian postal service, Wagner Pinheiro, has just revealed to 247 a decision made by the state-owned company's management this weekend. "We are going to sue Senator Aécio Neves and the PSDB party," he said. "They are making frivolous, mendacious, and irresponsible attacks on the postal service, a company with 350 years of history and the trust of practically all Brazilians."

Pinheiro states that all direct mail materials contracted by the PSDB, as well as by other political parties, were delivered within the agreed deadlines and conditions – except in cases where there were restrictions from the condominiums. In a press conference given two days ago, he also reported on the delivery of the more than 11 million pieces contracted by the PSDB. "A serious company, like the Post Office, cannot be the target of recklessness to create an electoral fabrication," he affirms.

Outraged, Wagner says the decision to sue Aécio was made this Saturday. "He continues to lie, even after all the explanations that have been given," he states. "I even suspect that this is part of a political project to weaken the institution's image for a possible privatization. Since they must believe they can win the elections, which I doubt will happen, they may want to resume the privatization project of the Post Office, which was initiated when Pimenta da Veiga [current PSDB candidate for governor of Minas Gerais] was Minister of Communications."

This Saturday, while participating in a motorcade in Belo Horizonte (MG), Aécio once again attacked the alleged "electoral crime" of the Post Office. "The use of the Post Office is an outrage. An electoral crime. This favored one candidacy. The law mandates equality in the election. We are doing what is possible: alerting, denouncing, and filing lawsuits in the Electoral Court so that measures are taken, and I hope they are taken," said Aécio (read more). here).

Wagner Pinheiro asserts that Aécio's accusation is criminal. "How can someone who intends to govern Brazil say that a company like the Post Office isn't delivering what its clients are contracting for?" he asks. "It's a frivolous attack that cannot go unanswered in court."
