Tuesday was a bad day for the stock market: the stock exchange fell 1,33%.
The Ibovespa closed the day at 63.039 points, with TAM's shares standing out with a 4,5% increase.
247_Tam's stock was the top performer on a bad day for trading on the stock exchange. The airline's shares rose 4,56% on speculation that Chilean authorities will finally approve the merger with Lan. Fueled by the positive sentiment in the sector, Gol's stock was also among the day's best performers, rising 1,2%.
The Ibovespa, however, disappointed those who had hoped for another day of gains. The 1,33% drop, to 63.039 points, contrasts with the first two trading days of the second half of the year, which accumulated a 2,4% increase.
AFTERNOON - The Ibovespa is experiencing a day of profit-taking. After two days of gains, accumulating 2,3% in July, investors started Tuesday determined to sell the stocks that performed well. With a drop of 0,88% at 12:50 PM, Rossi's stock is down 2,8%, followed by MRV (2,7%) and Cielo (2,4%). Brasil Ecodiesel, Tam, and Sabesp are leading the gains.
MORNING - Without international anchors to support it, with little appetite among large investors and in a wait-and-see mode among international stock exchanges, the Ibovespa opened the trading session without enthusiasm. The -0,19% drop to 63.773 points in the first few minutes shows exactly how subdued the mood is.
In this context, the highlight is the decline, for the second consecutive day, of the shares of the Pão de Açúcar group, which were down 2,05% at the start of trading. The trend is for a further decline throughout the day, as new developments emerge from the meeting between the CEO of the Casino group, Jean Charles Naouri, and the president of BNDES, Luciano Coutinho, held yesterday, in which the refusal of the French partner of Pão de Açúcar to accept the merger with Carrefour became clear. On Tuesday the 28th, shortly after Abilio Diniz and the BTG Pactual bank announced the merger proposal with Carrefour as a done deal, based on a two billion euro loan from BNDES, Pão de Açúcar's shares jumped 12,6%.
Today, on the side of the scale that is rising, shares of QGEP Participações, from the Queiroz Galvão group, were up 0,96% in the morning due to the purchase of a 10% stake in an oil area in Santos.
