Tebet celebrates the strongest GDP growth since 2021: 'good news'

247 - The Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, used social media to celebrate the result of Brazil's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2024, released this Friday (7) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). “Good news! Brazil's GDP per capita in 2024 was R$ 55.247,45. It grew 3,0% in real terms. This is equivalent to R$ 4.604 per month per inhabitant. It means an increase in the average income of Brazilians. Now it's time to keep moving forward, fighting inflation to lower the price of food,” Tebet posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Federal Deputy Lindbergh Farias, leader of the PT (Workers' Party) in the Chamber of Deputies, also used social media to highlight the GDP result and criticize the negative outlook from the financial market regarding the economy's performance. "According to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), GDP GREW 3,4% in 2024. The market projected ONLY 1,75%," the congressman emphasized.

In the last quarter of the year, GDP registered an increase of 0,2% compared to the previous quarter, signaling stability in the pace of the economy.
