247 - After long discussions about what her role would be in the new government, Senator Simone Tebet (MDB-MS) accepted the invitation and will be Minister of Planning in the Lula (PT) government.
The information was confirmed by the future Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha (PT-SP), in a conversation with journalists, including Marcelo Auler, a reporter for... Brazil 247 in Brasília. The invitation to Tebet was made on Friday (23).
Tebet is expected to meet with the newly elected president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), at the hotel where he is staying in the federal capital to finalize details of his appointment.
"She will maintain all the programs that are already in the ministry. There was no talk of [public] banks, but the details have not yet been given. In addition, there is the MDB quota, which will have the Ministry of Cities, probably given to a congressman - it is not known if it will be José Priante - and will have the Ministry of Transport, which should go to Senator Renan Filho," Auler informed.
There is no set date yet for Lula to announce the names of the 16 remaining ministers.
