Unemployment rate rises to 5,4% in September.
In August, the unemployment rate was 5,3%, IBGE reported this Thursday; research shows that 1,3 million people were unemployed last month, remaining stable compared to August of this year and September 2012.

Rio de Janeiro - The unemployment rate stood at 5,4% in September of this year, higher than in August (5,3%) and the same as in September 2012. The data was released today (24) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), in the Monthly Employment Survey (PME).
Research shows that 1,3 million people were unemployed in September, remaining stable compared to August of this year and September of last year. The employed population stood at 23,2 million people, which is practically the same number as the previous month and also as September 2012.
The total number of workers with formal employment contracts remained at 11,8 million, the same as in August, and 3,5% higher than in September of last year, meaning an increase of 399 jobs.
