Mercadante highlighted that this resumption of shipbuilding has generated more than 10 jobs, focusing on waterway transport and decarbonization, a sector in which Brazil has great potential.

"This resumption of shipbuilding, which is responsible for generating more than 10 jobs, is concentrated especially in waterway transport, with barges, ferries and pushboats," said Mercadante.

He further emphasized that the UN's International Maritime Organization's requirements for the use of renewable fuels by 2030 could boost the Brazilian shipbuilding industry, given its global leadership in the biofuels sector.
