blog do plateau - President Dilma Rousseff said today (5) that whoever wants to take advantage of the international economic crisis will lose. According to her, the government has an arsenal of measures that can be used when necessary to combat the effects of the crisis.

"Those who bet on the crisis, as some did four years ago, will lose again. We will face new difficulties with transparency, without hiding the problems, but with methodical and careful government action (...) Brazil will stay on course, the necessary measures are being taken, and we still have an arsenal of actions that will be adopted when necessary."

According to Dilma, Brazil will face the second wave of the international crisis with more wisdom and better tools. The president stated that measures will be systematically adopted to expand public investment and stimulate private investment and household consumption.

While participating in the ceremony commemorating World Environment Day at the Palácio do Planalto, Dilma also stated that the international economic crisis cannot serve as a pretext to interrupt environmental protection.

"We know it's possible to face this crisis and continue defending sustainable development. The crisis cannot be an argument for halting environmental protection measures, just as it cannot be an argument for halting social inclusion policies."
