Industrial production falls 2% between June and July.

Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian industrial production fell by 2% between June and July of this year. The data was released this Tuesday (3) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), through the Monthly Industrial Survey.

All four categories of industrial use experienced a decline in production, most notably durable consumer goods, which fell by 7,2%. Capital goods (machinery and equipment used in the production sector) saw a 3,3% reduction in production.

Also registering losses were semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods (-1,5%) and intermediate goods (industrial inputs for the productive sector) with a drop of 0,7%.

On the other hand, compared to July 2012, there was a 2% increase. Production also increased in the year-to-date figures (2%) and in the last 12 months (0,6%).
