Industrial production falls in nine locations surveyed by IBGE.

Despite a 0,1% increase from October to November 2018, industrial production declined in nine of the 15 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) during that period. The largest drops occurred in Goiás (-6,2%) and Amazonas (-3,5%); only six locations saw increases: Pernambuco (1,4%), Paraná (1,1%), Ceará (0,9%), São Paulo (0,7%), Minas Gerais (0,7%), and Rio Grande do Sul (0,4%).

Brazil Agency - Despite a 0,1% increase from October to November 2018, industrial production declined in nine of the 15 locations surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) during that period. The largest drops occurred in Goiás (-6,2%) and Amazonas (-3,5%).
 
The states of Rio de Janeiro (-2,2%), Pará (-1,3%), Bahia (-1,2%), Santa Catarina (-0,9%), Espírito Santo (-0,8%), and Mato Grosso (-0,4%) also experienced declines. The Northeast region, also surveyed as a whole of nine states, saw a decrease of 0,8%.
 
Only six locations saw an increase: Pernambuco (1,4%), Paraná (1,1%), Ceará (0,9%), São Paulo (0,7%), Minas Gerais (0,7%) and Rio Grande do Sul (0,4%).

Other comparisons

Compared to November 2017, national industry declined by 0,9%, a trend mirrored by eight of the 15 locations surveyed, especially Goiás, which saw a drop of 14,2%. Seven locations experienced growth, with the largest increase recorded in Rio Grande do Sul (12,7%).
 
For the year to date, the industry has advanced 1,5%. Twelve of the 15 regions saw growth during this period, with Pará standing out (9,9%). The three regions with a decline in production were Goiás (-4,7%), Espírito Santo (-1,3%), and Minas Gerais (-1,2%).
 
Over the past 12 months, national industry has grown by 1,8%. In this comparison, 12 of the 15 locations surveyed also showed growth, with the largest increase in Pará (9,7%). The locations that experienced a decline were Goiás (-4,1%), Espírito Santo (-1,6%), and Minas Gerais (-1,2%).
