President of Fenae: we will not allow the current government to dismantle Caixa.

"We are working from the following perspective: we need everyone on our side, those who voted for the current president and those who didn't, because Caixa Econômica Federal (a Brazilian bank) is at risk, the population will lose a major service, the guarantee fund is threatened, and we could suffer monstrous losses due to the dismantling policy and the so-called 'minimal state' concept. We want unity," said Jair Pedro Ferreira, president of Fenae (a Brazilian bank).

President of Fenae: we will not allow the current government to dismantle Caixa.

247 - The president of Fenae (National Federation of Associations of Caixa Econômica Federal Employees), Jair Pedro Ferreira, commented on the dismantling of Caixa Econômica Federal by the current government.

The president of Fenae highlighted the positive aspects of Caixa Econômica Federal and what the population will lose with the sale of the bank. "In the case of Caixa, the population, which is the owner of Caixa Econômica, when they talk about selling it, they are saying the following: 'we are going to dismantle a large company that works and has already financed more than 17 million homes throughout its history, built 4 million 'Minha Casa Minha Vida' (My House My Life) homes in the last 6 years, serves more than 6 million FGTS (Brazilian employee savings fund) accounts, serves the entire population that doesn't have a bank account, serves its own clients and those of other banks. That's the company we're talking about'."

He also criticized the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Duarte Guimarães. "When the president of Caixa goes to the United States to auction off Caixa's assets, he is dismantling this company; he is interfering in a company that operates despite all the difficulties a large public company faces, but which operates well, delivers results, and serves the population. That is Caixa's role, and that is what is at stake."

In addition to the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Jair Ferreira also mentioned the participation of the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, and the rest of the Bolsonaro government in dismantling the company. "They cannot, they must not, and we will not allow the current government, the Minister of Economy, and the current president of Caixa to dismantle this company; that is our challenge going forward. The population will lose, and the construction industry will lose. Who will finance houses for 30 years? Who will do that? It's impossible. There is a perverse campaign against what is public; we know it's the language of privatization, of dismantling and wearing down the company to say it's bad, which is not true."

Jair Pedro Ferreira said it is important at this moment that Caixa employees are united. "We are working with the following perspective: we need everyone on our side, those who voted for the current president and those who didn't, because Caixa is at risk, the population will lose a great service, the guarantee fund is threatened, and we could suffer monstrous losses due to the dismantling policy and the so-called 'minimal state' concept. We want unity, union, to call on everyone to close ranks here and look ahead because our challenge is gigantic, monstrous, and we will need everyone, each in their own role."

The president of Fenae also commented on the financial crisis the country is going through. "There is an attack, there are 13 or 14 million unemployed, that is, either the government invests and creates new jobs or we will enter into chaos, we will fall back into poverty again, according to the UN."
