247 Economist Márcio Pochmann criticized the government of President Jair Bolsonaro, which decided to continue the neoliberal agenda of Michel Temer's administration.
"According to IBGE, Temer's 'dream team' of economics under the financial market left the country in 2018 with a lower GDP than it received in 2016. Yet another neoliberal failure that the Bolsonaro government intends to deepen in Brazil," the scholar wrote on Twitter.
"When the reality revealed by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) is disregarded in government propaganda in favor of neoliberal policies that continue to promote fiscal contraction, preventing the national economy from growing again and sustaining widespread unemployment, poverty, and inequality."
