Petrobras approves contracts for the construction of pre-salt platforms.

Documents total US$4,5 billion for the construction and integration of the first six topside modules.

Agência Brasil - Petrobras informed this Thursday (19), through a note, that it approved the signing of ten contracts, totaling US$ 4,5 billion, for the construction and integration of the first six modules. topside (process plant, utilities and accommodation) of the eight replicating FPSO-type platforms (unit that produces, stores and transfers oil and gas).

The approval was granted by mutual agreement with the project partners, BG Group, Petrogal Brasil, and Repsol Sinopec, and through their affiliates Tupi-BV and Guará-BV. The units are being built in Brazil for the development of pre-salt projects in the Santos Basin 9 (BM-S-9) and Santos Basin 11 (BM-S-11) blocks, located in the Santos Basin.

The FPSOs (all of the replicating type – the same model) will be used in the first development phase defined by the partners of blocks BM-S-9 and BM-S-11. The contracting process for the two modules of topsides and the remaining integration packages for the eight replicating FPSOs should take place over the next 18 months.

In parallel, the BM-S-11 Block consortium opted to initiate the contracting process for at least one additional FPSO, to be chartered and used in areas that require process plants different from the one adopted for the replicating vessels.

The BM-S-11 Block consortium is operated by Petrobras (65%), in partnership with BG E&P Brasil (25%) and Petrogal Brasil (10%). The BM-S-9 Block consortium is operated by Petrobras (45%), in partnership with BG E&P Brasil (30%) and Repsol Sinopec Brasil (25%). The contracts will be signed in the coming days.

According to the state-owned company's statement, the following companies will be contracted to carry out the services: DM Construtora de Obras/TKK Engenharia, IESA Oleo e Gas, Tome Engenharia/Ferrostaal Industrieanlagen GmbH, Keppel FELS do Brasil, Jurong do Brasil Prestação de Serviços, and Mendes Jr Trading Engenharia/OSX Construção Naval. The contracts will be signed in the coming days.
