Rio de Janeiro - Petrobras announced tonight a 6,6% increase in the price of regular gasoline (Gasoline A) and a 5,4% increase in the price of diesel at the company's refineries throughout the country, effective from midnight on the 30th. The statement concludes that the adjustment was determined taking into account the company's pricing policy of aligning the prices of derivatives with those prevailing in the international market.

According to a statement from the state-owned company, the prices of gasoline and diesel, to which the adjustment applies, do not include federal taxes such as the Contribution for Intervention in the Economic Domain (Cide) and PIS/Cofins, and the state tax ICMS.

The last price adjustment announced by the state-owned company for gasoline occurred on June 25th of last year, when the common type of the product rose 7,83% at the refineries. At that time, diesel fuel was adjusted by 3,94%, also without the incidence of federal and state taxes.

At that time, however, the increase did not reach the final consumer's pocket since the government, in order to keep inflation under control, reduced the Cide tax rate to zero.

In the case of diesel fuel, however, Petrobras announced another 6% increase, which took effect on July 16, 2012, at the state-owned company's refineries.
