Parente will have to explain the devaluation of Petrobras' assets.

The Chamber of Deputies' Mines and Energy Committee will hold a public hearing to discuss the impact of impairments, a type of accounting maneuver to devalue assets, carried out by Petrobras during Pedro Parente's administration. The request for the public hearing was articulated by the Unified Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) in conjunction with Deputy Ana Perugini (PT-SP). "The impairments have been responsible for the devaluation of Petrobras by 112 billion reais, a value 18 times greater than that uncovered by Lava Jato, as a result of corruption. Given this veritable handover of the company, it is necessary for society to be aware," said FUP director Leonardo Urpia.

247 - The Chamber of Deputies' Mines and Energy Committee will hold a public hearing to discuss the impact of impairments, a type of accounting maneuver to devalue assets, carried out by Petrobras during Pedro Parente's administration. The request for the public hearing was coordinated by the Unified Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) in conjunction with Deputy Ana Perugini (PT-SP).

The public hearing is a way to clarify for the public the criteria adopted by the current Petrobras management for carrying out impairments, since these affect the security of Petrobras' assets. The presence of Pedro Parente, the company's current president, was suggested in the request.

"The motion we approved was due to the devaluation of Petrobras' liabilities, which is driving the company's value down," recalled Representative Ana Perugini. "We are waiting for a date to be proposed by the president of Petrobras so that we can discuss and clarify all doubts regarding the devaluation process," she stated.

"The impairments have been responsible for the devaluation of Petrobras by 112 billion reais, a value 18 times greater than that uncovered by Lava Jato, as a result of corruption. Given this veritable sell-off of the company, it is necessary for society to be aware, hence the importance of holding public hearings. We will continue to support parliamentarians who, like us oil workers, want to defend Petrobras and Brazil," added Leonardo Urpia, director of FUP.
