247 - Former judge Sergio Moro, who was elected senator, protested on Saturday night against the proposal to renegotiate fines from leniency agreements imposed on Brazilian construction companies, which were destroyed in Lava Jato. This act of lawfare, condemned even by Pope Francis, destroyed more than 4 million jobs in Brazil, paralyzed practically all public works, turned engineers into ride-sharing drivers, and promoted a coup d'état in Brazil that changed the economic model for the worse. Ironically, Moro said it's about giving "picanha" (a cut of beef) to the construction companies.

In 2021, the Dieese study "Intersectoral economic implications of Operation Lava Jato" shows that Brazil lost R$ 172,2 billion in investment between 2014 and 2017.

The amount the country lost in investments is 40 times greater than the resources that prosecutors from the Lava Jato task force in Paraná announced they had recovered and returned to public coffers. In total, Lava Jato contributed to the elimination of approximately 4,4 million jobs.

The way the accusations were made aimed at demoralizing and destroying the image of companies, including paralyzing activities and resulting in job losses, according to the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT).

In the construction sector alone, approximately 1,1 jobs were lost. But the effects also extend to other sectors such as commerce and services, transportation, food, and even, indirectly, domestic services.

Due to the negative impacts of reduced investment and employment, the total wage bill was reduced by approximately R$ 85 billion.
