247 with international agencies – Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos stated on Thursday that he is against holding a referendum on the euro in the country. "Greece's presence in the monetary union is a historic achievement of the Greek people that cannot be questioned," he said in a statement released after a meeting between Greek Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou and European leaders and representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), gathered for the G20. The Minister of Development, Michalis Chryssohoidis, also spoke out against the referendum and called for the European aid plan for Greece to be ratified by Parliament, as requested by the Eurozone, to keep the country solvent and within the bloc.

Top European leaders gave Greece an ultimatum on Wednesday to decide whether to remain in or leave the Eurozone, with the latter option meaning an immediate freeze on financial aid, considered essential for its economic recovery.
