My Home, My Life program aimed at the middle class will be available starting in May, says minister.
Phase 4 of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program, aimed at families with a monthly income of up to R$ 12, will allow financing for properties up to R$ 500.
247 - The Minister of Cities, Jader Filho, stated this Friday (4), the Band 4 of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program, aimed at families with a monthly income of up to R$ 12 thousand, should be available to the public in the first half of May. “Caixa is carrying out the entire process of updating its system. In the first half of May, it will already be available to these families. Today, these families are without assistance in the market,” said the minister in an interview with GloboNews, according to the column by journalist Valdo Cruz.
The measure expands the current ceiling, which is currently R$ 8 for Band 3, and aims to include a segment of the population that, until now, could not find adequate financing options in the real estate market. The initiative was made possible after the signing of a decree by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on Thursday (3), authorizing the use of resources from the Pre-Salt Social Fund to finance Band 3, aimed at families with income between R$ 4 and R$ 8.
With this, the funds that were already reserved for the program can be reallocated to finance the new tier, aimed at families with even higher incomes. The decree was published this Friday (4) in the Official Gazette of the Union and is already in effect. Despite having held an event in Brasília to present the progress of the current term, the government did not detail the expansion of Minha Casa, Minha Vida during the ceremony.
With the change, the program will now allow financing for properties up to R$ 500, with payment terms of up to 420 months and an interest rate of 10,5% per year, a percentage that, according to the ministry, is lower than the rates normally practiced in the market. The government expects the expansion to reach approximately 120 families, including the middle class within the scope of the social program.
