Brazilian spending abroad reached a record high for the month of July since 2011, totaling US$2,214 billion; from January to June, these expenses reached US$14,542 billion, compared to US$12,712 billion in the same period of 2012.

Brasilia – Even with the rising dollar, Brazilian spending abroad reached a record high for the month of July since 2011. Expenses totaled US$2,214 billion, compared to US$2,010 billion in July 2012 and US$2,235 billion in the same month of 2011.
From January to June, these expenses reached US$14,542 billion, compared to US$12,712 billion in the first seven months of 2012.
Meanwhile, revenue from foreign visitors in the country reached US$539 million in July, compared to US$546 million in the same month of 2012. From January to July, this revenue totaled US$4,019 billion, compared to US$4,017 billion in the first seven months of last year.
With these results, the deficit in the international travel account (expenses of Brazilians abroad minus income of foreigners in Brazil) stood at US$ 1,674 billion in July and at US$ 10,523 billion in the first seven months of the year, compared to US$ 8,695 billion in the same period of 2012.
