Meirelles dreams of pension reform being approved by the end of the year.

Brazilian Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles said on Thursday that he believes there is a "very good chance" that Brazil will approve a pension reform proposal by the end of the year. Meirelles, who participated in a question-and-answer session during a meeting of the Institute for International Finance in Washington, said it would be simpler and "more convenient" to approve the reform this year.

(Reuters)- Finance Minister Henrique Meirelles said on Thursday that he believes there is a "very good chance" that Brazil will approve a pension reform proposal by the end of the year.

Meirelles, who participated in a question-and-answer session during a meeting of the Institute for International Finance in Washington, said it would be simpler and "more convenient" to approve the reform this year, since the country will have presidential elections in 2018.
