SAO PAULO, May 7 (Reuters) Gerdau, the largest producer of long steel products in the Americas, reported a net profit of 160 million reais, a 60 percent drop compared to the same period in 2012, but close to the 151 million reais expected by the market, according to a Reuters survey.
The company reported cash generation, measured by earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), of 805 million reais, a 20 percent year-on-year decrease. The margin for the period fell from 11 to 9 percent.
