Senate opposition leader Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) described the announcement of a R$139 billion fiscal deficit target for the central government in 2017 as "complete incoherence"; according to him, it represents a deficit of R$194 billion, even larger than this year's, since R$55 billion in revenue from privatizations of public companies and concessions of assets, such as oil fields, are included.

According to him, this represents a shortfall of R$ 194 billion, even greater than this year's, since it includes R$ 55 billion in revenue from the privatization of public companies and concessions of assets, such as oil fields.
“They are trying to disguise this number as a victory for Henrique Meirelles [Finance Minister]. But it is actually a victory for the political core. Romero Jucá [PMDB-RR senator] and company, who did not give up on spending,” he said, according to Valor (read here).
