IPCA-15: Preliminary inflation figure comes in at 0,76% in February.

The index registered a slight increase compared to January, when it stood at 0,55%. Over the past 12 months, the indicator decreased from 5,87% to 5,63%.

247 - The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) reported this Friday (24) that the National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15), considered the preview of Brazil's official inflation, was 0,76% in February.

The index registered a slight increase compared to January, when it stood at 0,55%. The indicator decreased from 5,87% to 5,63% in the accumulated 12 months. In February 2022, the IPCA-15 was 0,99%.

According to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), eight of the nine groups of products and services surveyed for the indicator showed price increases in February compared to January. Clothing registered a decrease in prices for consumers. 

Education was responsible for the largest inflation rate. It rose 6,41% compared to January, accounting for 0,36 percentage points (pp) of the February index.
