Taxes: the government never stops collecting them.
In the first three months, the government collected R$ 35,7 billion more than in the same period of 2010, a historical record.
Tax and federal contribution revenue collected by the Federal Revenue Service has already shown an increase of R$ 35,740 billion in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the first three months of last year. According to data released today by the Federal Revenue Service, revenue jumped from R$ 190,454 billion from January to March 2010 to R$ 226,194 billion in the first quarter of this year.
Considering the adjustment of revenue using the Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA) for the period, revenues showed growth of R$ 24,367 billion in the first quarter, rising from R$ 203,788 billion to R$ 228,155 billion. According to the tax authorities, the collection of so-called managed revenues (which exclude fees and contributions charged by other agencies) reached R$ 69,357 billion in March, with real growth (adjusted for inflation) of 9,90% compared to the same month last year and 9,56% compared to February of this year.
In the first quarter, revenues managed by other agencies totaled R$ 219,352 billion, showing a real growth of 12.70% compared to the first quarter of last year. Other revenues managed by other agencies totaled R$ 1.627 billion in March, with real growth of 1,74% compared to March 2010 and 21,43% compared to February 2011. In the first quarter, other revenues totaled R$ 6,842 billion, with a real decrease of 7,57% compared to the period from January to March 2010.
