SAO PAULO (Reuters) - The Ibovespa closed lower on Thursday, but far from its low, as the effect of the announcement of a 50% tariff by the United States on Brazilian products was concentrated in some stocks, such as Embraer, while Vale performed robustly, acting as a positive counterweight.

The Ibovespa, the benchmark index of the Brazilian stock market, closed down 0,46% at 136.842,37 points, according to preliminary data, after reaching a low of 136.014,47 points during the day (-1,07%). Its high was 137.471,88 points (-0,01%).

The financial volume totaled R$24 billion before final adjustments.
