247 - The future Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), said that negotiations between the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and the National Congress for the approval of the Transition Amendment continue, regardless of the decision by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Gilmar Mendes that excluded Bolsa Família from the spending cap.

"Negotiations continue; it's important for the country to bet on good politics, on negotiation, on institutionalism, so that we can give robustness to the economic policy that will be announced and that will calm tempers and show that Brazil will be on the right track starting January 1st," said Haddad, according to the newspaper. Folha de S. Paul

"As far as I'm concerned, we will continue to discuss what is best for the country. This provides comfort to the beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família program; disagreements in the National Congress will not leave them without support. It is very important to provide comfort to families, and there will be no harm to the program," added the future Minister of Finance.

According to him, the Transition Amendment remains the future government's "Plan A." "I always play to Plan A, which is the plan that provides robustness, indicates a path forward; we will take measures at the beginning of the year to resolve the deficit inherited from this government," he said. "We will persevere on the path of institutionalism and good politics," he emphasized afterward.
