Haddad says Uber is sensitive to the issue of pensions for drivers.
The Finance Minister met with Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi in Davos, Switzerland.
247 - During a meeting with Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi at the World Economic Forum, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad discussed the social security conditions for the company's drivers. According to the minister, Khosrowshahi demonstrated sensitivity to the issue, particularly regarding workers' pensions.
“We are very concerned about the issue of social security for workers on digital platforms. No one is against technology, but we want technology to serve everyone, consumers and workers,” Haddad told journalists on Wednesday (18).
>>> "App-based work borders on slavery," says Luiz Marinho.
"These workers need to have some social support like all workers, a prospect of retirement, and that is a fair demand they are making," Haddad argued.
“As a global company, they are already experiencing this type of embarrassment worldwide, especially in more developed countries. So it's natural that they would want to at least set a standard so that the protection provided by law is extended to these workers,” he said. (With information from...)(The State of São Paulo).
