Government backtracks and emergency aid payments will be made in the full amount of R$ 600.

Catarina Barbosa, Brazil of Fact - The federal government has decided not to split the payment of the next two installments of emergency aid. Therefore, more than 65 million Brazilians benefiting from the program will receive two more payments of R$ 600. The schedule was published by the Ministry of Citizenship last Friday (17), in the Official Gazette of the Union.

The idea of ​​splitting the aid payment came from the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes. According to him, the new installments could be divided into up to four payments, so that the amount would be reduced until the beneficiaries stopped receiving it. 

After criticism from parliamentarians, the government backed down, and some opposition representatives even asked for the benefit of R$ 600 per month to be maintained until the end of 2020.

The announcement made by the Ministry of Citizenship includes a new schedule. Payments will first be deposited into digital accounts, and then the funds can be withdrawn. According to the government, the goal is to avoid crowds. 

Those who started receiving the benefit in April and have already received the first three installments will receive the fourth payment of R$ 600 between July 22nd (for those born in January) and August 26th (for those born in December). The withdrawal schedule begins on July 25th and runs until September 17th. The fifth payment of R$ 600 will begin on August 28th, and withdrawals will start on September 19th.
