Government reevaluates concession for Congonhas airport.

The Ministry of Transport stated that the federal government is reassessing the concession of São Paulo's Congonhas airport, asserting that without the terminal's revenue, the state-owned company Infraero would lose financial sustainability. This statement was released after press reports indicated that, to maintain its influence over Infraero, the Republican Party (PR) was demanding the suspension of the Congonhas concession; in exchange, the party would vote to shelve the second complaint against Temer.

Reuters The Ministry of Transport stated this Friday that the federal government is reassessing the concession of São Paulo's Congonhas airport, claiming that without the terminal's revenue, the state-owned company Infraero loses financial sustainability.

In a statement distributed to the press by the Presidential Palace, the ministry affirmed that the reassessment follows "solely and exclusively the technical and financial arguments of the ministry, without external political interference."

The text was released a day after Reuters published a report in which sources stated that, to maintain its influence over Infraero, the Republican Party (PR) was demanding the suspension of the Congonhas airport concession. In exchange, the party guaranteed to vote to overturn the second impeachment complaint against President Michel Temer in the Chamber of Deputies next week.
