247 - The government of acting vice-president Michel Temer is considering creating a state-owned company to operate in the field of online sports betting and then privatizing it, along with Caixa's instant lottery. It is estimated that the government could raise approximately R$ 8 billion from transactions derived from the sale of the two businesses.

The government hopes that the creation and subsequent privatization of the state-owned online sports betting company will attract foreign companies already operating in the sector. In this case, Caixa would only participate as a minority shareholder.

The other project involves the privatization of the state-owned Caixa Instantânea, which operates Lotex, responsible for selling the instant lottery "scratch-off" tickets. According to the Secretary of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Finance, Mansueto Almeida, foreign companies have already shown interest in operating in the sports betting sector in Brazil.
