GM announces R$ 6,5 billion investment in Brazil.
The announcement was made by the CEO of General Motors, Mary Teresa Barra, after a meeting with President Dilma Rousseff; according to her, the amount will be invested over the next five years in new products, improvements to current vehicles, new technologies, and factory maintenance.

General Motors CEO Mary Teresa Barra announced today (14), after a meeting with President Dilma Rousseff, that the company will invest R$ 6,5 billion in its activities in Brazil over the next five years. According to her, the amount will be invested in new products, improvements to current vehicles, new technologies and factory maintenance.
"We are announcing a new investment of R$ 6,5 billion for the next five years. We have been in Brazil for almost 90 years, we recognize that there are medium and long-term challenges, but we will continue [here]," he emphasized.
Mary Teresa reported having discussed with President Dilma measures to make the industry more efficient and stated that she had thanked the Brazilian government for actions such as the reduction of the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI) for vehicles.
The General Motors executive reported that she expressed to President Dilma her regret for the death of the candidate for President of the Republic Eduardo Campos, which occurred yesterday (13), in an air accident.
In Brazil, General Motors has been manufacturing and selling vehicles under the Chevrolet brand for 88 years. The company has industrial complexes that produce vehicles in São Caetano do Sul and São José dos Campos, both in São Paulo, as well as Gravataí (RS). It also has other units for parts production and a technology center.
