Gleisi points out Bolsonaro's hypocrisy in criticisms of the primary deficit.

Ipea estimates that the government will register a primary deficit in 2023, but Bolsonaro supporters ignore the 'economic abuse' practiced by Bolsonaro, according to the president of the PT (Workers' Party).

247 - The national president of the PT (Workers' Party) and federal deputy, Gleisi Hoffmann, said on her social media that Bolsonaro supporters ignore the fact that Lula's government had to correct the disorderly increase in public spending during Jair Bolsonaro's government, which generated an inevitable impact on this year's fiscal result.

"Let's refresh these people's memories. Bolsonaro committed economic abuse in the elections and left a wasteland in the budget and public policies, exceeded the spending cap by R$ 795 billion, left R$ 255,2 billion in unpaid expenses, and still has the PEC of Precatórios, a debt of R$ 90 billion that he postponed. And that's without mentioning the billion-dollar default at Caixa Econômica Federal, he opened a floodgate of loans without guarantees that the money would be returned," wrote the president of the PT on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

According to the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea), based on budget execution data, the central government is expected to have ended 2023 with a primary deficit of R$ 234,3 billion. The official result will be released at the end of January by the National Treasury Secretariat. The Ministry of Finance itself had already predicted a primary deficit at the beginning of Lula's third term, although in the order of R$ 100 billion.

It seems like a joke that Bolsonaro supporters criticize Lula's government for a possible deficit of R$ 200 billion. Let's refresh their memory. Bolsonaro committed economic abuse during the elections and left a wasteland in the budget and public policies, exceeded the spending cap by R$ 795 billion, left R$ 255,2 billion in unpaid expenses, and still has the PEC of Precatórios, a debt of R$ 90 billion that he postponed. And that's without mentioning the billion-dollar default on Caixa Econômica Federal, opening a floodgate of loans without guarantees that the money would be repaid.
