By Bernardo Caram BRASILIA (Reuters) - The National Union of Central Bank Employees (Sinal) announced on Wednesday that the category will hold a 24-hour strike on Thursday, emphasizing that the initiative may result in operational interruptions in the services of the institution.

"The decision to hold the strike stems from the dissatisfaction of the employees regarding the treatment given to their demands, amidst asymmetrical concessions offered to other typical state categories," the union said in a statement, predicting that 70% of the agency's employees would participate.

According to the organization, the 2024 Budget benefits tax auditors from the Federal Revenue Service and the Federal Police, leaving aside the employees of the Central Bank, who are requesting a salary readjustment and the creation of a kind of productivity bonus.

The monetary authority's servers are already operating under a work-to-rule action, which has caused delays in the release of indicators by the Central Bank, a scenario that could worsen with the strike, according to the union.

In December, central bank employees had approved what was called a state of strike, indicating to the government that they would stop work if the category's demands were not met.
