Do Canaltech - Due to the new coronavirus crisis, the Federal Government issued a Provisional Measure last Tuesday (7) authorizing workers with active or inactive accounts to make an emergency withdrawal of up to R$ 1.045,00 from the Guarantee Fund for Length of Service (FGTS). The measure will be in effect from June 15th until December 31st.
The schedule and method for making withdrawals will still be defined by Caixa Econômica Federal (the Brazilian bank responsible for FGTS), however, the rules for those who have more than one FGTS account have already been agreed upon. First, withdrawals will be allowed from terminated employment contracts, starting with the lowest balance, followed by other accounts, also starting with the lowest balance.
