People's DailyAccording to a survey by the Brazil-China Business Council (CEBC), the volume of trade between the two countries reached US$6,7 million between January and June, a value three times higher than that recorded in the same period of 2024.

The CEBC report, released on the 17th, indicates that the increase in exports reflects a strategic move by Beijing to diversify its supply base of critical minerals. China, which leads the global rare earth sector, has set a historical record for imports of these inputs in 2025.

The growing Chinese demand coincides with an abundant supply from Brazil, which possesses estimated reserves of 21 million tons of rare earth elements—second only to China itself, and surpassing countries like India (6,9 million tons) and the United States, whose reserves represent about one-tenth of Brazil's. This comparative advantage places Brazil in a privileged position in the global geopolitics of mineral resources.

CEBC highlights that the complementarity between Brazil's vast natural resources and China's advanced industrial processing chain is shaping a new configuration of interdependence between the two countries. According to experts, this alignment could transform Brazil into one of China's main partners in the global energy and technological transition, given the importance of rare earth elements for sectors such as electronics, batteries, and renewable energy.
