Former Vale director was approached by EPL.
The government has sounded out Guto Quintella (center), who was the director of special projects at the mining company, to head the Planning and Logistics Company, responsible for projects such as the high-speed train; Bernardo Figueiredo (left) is leaving and the Planalto Palace is looking for a name closer to the private sector; if they don't find one, the former Minister of Transport, Paulo Sérgio Passos (right), could be appointed.
247 - One of the government's closest advisors to President Dilma, executive Bernardo Figueiredo of the Planning and Logistics Company (EPL), will leave his post in December. Responsible for multi-billion dollar projects such as the high-speed train and the North-South Railway, EPL has yet to take off.
To accelerate the development of the railway sector, the Planalto Palace sought a name more aligned with the private sector. The first to be considered was Guto Quintella, former director of special projects at Vale and former partner at BTG Pactual bank, as well as a figure very close to several PT (Workers' Party) leaders.
Involved in the restructuring of a large company, Quintella will likely be unable to accept the invitation. In this case, another possibility is the appointment of Paulo Sergio Passos, former Minister of Transport. Below is a news report from Reuters:
