247 - With the Brazilian economy melting down amid the bursting of the global financial bubble, Jair Bolsonaro stated this Monday (9), during an event aimed at businesspeople in the United States, that his government remains “loyal” to the disastrous economic policy of the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes. “We have, in the person of our Minister of Economy, a man known inside and outside Brazil, Mr. Paulo Guedes, and we are loyal to his economic policies and seek to implement them in every way. We are showing that we are on the right track. Here in the USA we are showing this,” said Bolsonaro.

Bolsonaro's statement was made a few minutes after... stock exchanges Brazilian and US markets opened lower and announced circuit breakers, temporarily suspending operations. However, for several weeks now, investors have been expressing dissatisfaction with Guedes' lack of an alternative plan amid the deepening global crisis due to the coronavirus epidemic.

On Monday, amid widespread panic, Guedes limited himself to stating that he was “absolutely calmand that he would take advantage of the crisis to "generate jobs".

According to Bolsonaro, the ministers are "qualified to face challenges." "Any of our ministers are qualified to face any challenges. [...] I bring to you a Brazil where you can trust your president and your ministers," he said.
