After three consecutive months of decline, formal job creation in the country grew again in March with the creation of 19.282 new formal jobs. The figure represents a growth of 0,05% compared to the previous month, when 2.415 jobs were lost. The data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) were released today (23) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

The year-to-date result was negative (-0,12%) with a decrease of 50.354 jobs. Over the last 12 months, the Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed Workers) recorded a reduction of 48.678 formal jobs in March. The result for March 2015 is better than that obtained in the same month last year (13.117).

The positive result for the month of March this year stems from the difference between the total number of workers hired (1.719.219) and the total number of dismissals (1.699.937). For the year, 5.088.689 workers with formal employment contracts were hired, and 5.139.043 were dismissed.

The Minister of Labor, Manoel Dias, said that the negative result accumulated for the year is worrying. He stressed, however, that the country is beginning to recover from the crisis. "In our understanding, we are experiencing a political crisis that also impacts the economy. This postpones the purchase of a car, an apartment, and investors stop investing. What the March results show us is that we are beginning a recovery, and April will be better than March," Dias analyzed.
