Dollar jumps to almost R$5,00 after Fed exacerbates pandemic fears.

Investors reacted on Monday (16) to the Federal Reserve's decision on Sunday to cut its interest rate to zero due to the advance of Covid-19. Early Monday morning (16), the US dollar was up 2,75%, being quoted at R$ 4,9450 on the sell side.

Luana Maria Benedito, Reuters The dollar started the week sharply higher against the real, again approaching 5 reais, with investors reacting on Monday to the Federal Reserve's decision on Sunday to cut its interest rate to zero, highlighting the broad economic impact of the pandemic.

At 9:07 AM, the dollar was up 2,75%, at 4,9450 reais for sale. On the B3 exchange, the dollar futures contract was up 1,73%, at 4,9160 reais.

On Friday, the spot dollar rose 0,57%, to 4,8128 reais on the sell side, a new record high for the closing price.
