The dollar fell 0,70% and closed at R$ 5,36.

The anticipation surrounding the decision of the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) also permeated trading.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) The dollar closed lower in Brazil on Wednesday, far from R$5,40, following the decline of the US currency against other currencies of commodity-exporting countries, amid reduced fears of a possible sharp price correction in the US stock market.

The anticipation surrounding the decision of the Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee (Copom), expected in the early evening, also permeated trading.

After approaching R$5,40 the previous day, the spot dollar closed Wednesday down 0,70%, at R$5,3614 for sale.

On the B3 stock exchange, the December dollar futures contract -- currently the most liquid in Brazil -- was down 0,94%, at R$5,3925.
