Spot dollar closes down 0,98%
With the sharp decline on the day, the currency ended the week with a cumulative drop of 0,30%.
SAO PAULO (Reuters) - After reaching R$5,60 the previous day, the dollar plummeted almost 1% this Friday and closed below R$5,55 in Brazil, following the sharp decline of the US currency abroad after the release of weak US labor market data.
The US figures ended up overshadowing news in the currency and fixed income markets that the US was imposing further tariffs against several trading partners.
The spot dollar closed Friday down 0,98%, at R$5,5453. With the sharp decline on the day, the currency ended the week with an accumulated drop of 0,30%. Year-to-date, the dollar has fallen 10,26%.
At 17:04 PM on the B3 exchange, the dollar for September – the most liquid contract in Brazil – was down 1,06%, at R$5,5910.
