247 - In testimony given as part of the Lava Jato investigation, economist Delfim Netto, who was Minister of Finance during the so-called "economic miracle," said he received R$ 240 in cash from Odebrecht, but stated that the amount referred to consulting services he provided to the construction company.

"That on several occasions he provides consulting services (to Odebrecht) without any contract, which does not exclude the nature of the consulting services provided; that, as stated, he has been providing services to Odebrecht for over 20 years; that, at times, he provides consulting services by telephone or in person; that, in the case in question, he does not have a signed contract, but assures that he provided such consulting services and received the amount of R$ 240.000,00 for it," said the former minister.

The amount paid to Delfim is listed in one of the spreadsheets from Odebrecht's Structured Operations Department. Structured Operations is the official name of the construction company's 'bribery department,' revealed by Operation Xepa, an offshoot of Lava Jato.
