247 - Brazil's future Finance Minister, Fernando Haddad, said on Wednesday (27) that the decision to make the country a member of the OECD will be revisited. Brazil's entry into the "club of rich countries" was one of the priorities of the outgoing Jair Bolsonaro government.

"Look, we have a significant interface with the OECD. Brazil has a very large interface with the OECD," said Haddad, in a press conference at the transition center. "This is a policy that will be defined by the government, not by the finance ministry. We will be at the table to discuss this issue. But it is a government decision that will certainly be reconsidered by President Lula, who is familiar with the matter."

In June, the OECD Council of Ministers approved the roadmap for Brazil's admission to the organization. Brazil's application for membership was made under Michel Temer (MDB) in 2017.

The OECD is known for advocating a minimal state and a macroeconomic agenda that prioritizes the liberalization of capital flows, which is good for the rich but extremely harmful to developing countries.
