Eletrobras employees are preparing a new strike in opposition to privatization.

The unions representing Eletrobras workers across the country are holding a series of assemblies to approve a new 24-hour strike on July 17th against the privatization of the company and for the removal of its president, Wilson Ferreira Jr., from the leadership of the state-owned company; a strike notice is expected to be issued on the 17th, and another work stoppage is planned for around the 26th, when the privatization auction of the state-owned energy distribution companies is scheduled.

247 - The unions representing Eletrobras system workers across the country are holding a series of assemblies to approve a new 24-hour strike on July 17th against the privatization of the company and for the removal of its president, Wilson Ferreira Jr., from the leadership of the state-owned company.

The employees are also against the threat made by the state-owned company's management that they will have to return the Profit Sharing and Results (PLR) payments from 2012 and 2013, which total approximately R$ 75 million, and the possibility that this year's PLR will not be paid.

According to the Union of Urban Workers of the Federal District, the strike warning should be issued on the 17th, and another stoppage should take place around the 26th, when the privatization auction of the state-owned energy distribution companies is scheduled.
